Xbox 360 to output 1080p with patch

In addition to the other announcements made today at TGS 2006, Microsoft revealed that the Xbox 360 will receive a patch this fall that will enable it to output game and movie content in 1080p resolution. This is a huge win for Microsoft, as it was previously believed that the 360 was incapable of displaying this level of resolution, leaving Sony's upcoming PlayStation 3 console as the only next-gen console capable of 1080p. This further levels the playing field between the PS3 and 360, now that both can run movies and games in "True HD."
