Xbox 360 quarterly sales tell mixed story

Microsoft looks to be doing ok with Xbox 360 sales despite a few hits, as has been reported by several media outlets. The computer software giant, reporting their holiday quarter revenue, stated sales in the division which hosts the Xbox 360 group were up by some 76 percent. The division still took a hit however, losing around $289 million during the quarter, which is in line with figures from the same time last year. The company as a whole reported 12.5 billion in revenue despite a drop in quarterly revenue. The larger division that includes the Xbox 360 group had a play in the high revenue total, delivering to Microsoft 2.96 billion of our dollars.

It was also interesting to note from these reports that total Xbox 360 sales have amounted to 10.4 miillion unit sales to date since the game console first debuted. 4.4 million of those moved during the last quarter alone. Microsoft did say at the end of their investor call they were forecasting Xbox 360 sales to slow somewhat from their original projections of 13-15 million by the mid-point of this year.
