While it is not clear where they are getting their information from, DigiTimes is reporting Microsoft will be shipping external Xbox 360 HD-DVD drives by Christmas for under $200. The article goes on to mention how Taiwanese developers see the external drives as a smart move compared to the built-in BD drives for the PS3. "External drives have more flexibility than built-in models...pre-installation of BD drives may decrease the market competitiveness of PS3 units".
