Star Wars The Old Republic, the second Star Wars MMORPG in the franchise's history, released on the PC just last week to a massive amount of hype and anticipation among gamers. Will this alreadly highly-successful MMORPG ever see the light of day on the Xbox 360 though, we take a look.

BioWare has always been a fan of the Xbox and the Xbox 360, with releases including the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic franchise enjoying a great deal of success.

Taking that into account, you would assume that they would be willing to bring the Star Wars Thd Old Republic release to the Microsoft next-gen console.

There have been a great deal of questions though surrounding the capabilities of the Xbox 360, as well as its current online structure that would allow such a game to exist.

There have been very few successful MMORPG experiences that were subscription-based on consoles.

The only games which could truly be considered major successes include the Phantasy Star Online franchise on the Sega Dreamcast, as well as Final Fantasy on the Sony PS2.

Beyond that though, we have not seen any big MMORPG releases on consoles.

This is a huge void that is just waiting to be filled, but it does not appear that the Xbox 360 will be the console it is fulfilled on.

These types of games require a different input and the belief is that without a true mouse-and-keyboard set-up, they will simply not be the same.

BioWare has stated that the platform of choice for the new Star Wars MMORPG is and will be the Microsoft Windows operating system, and PCs in general.

While that may be the case, we find it hard to believe that if the game continues to be a huge success, that it will not someday end up on the successor to the Xbox 360, even if it is a few years away.
