The year 2011 is coming to a close and the Xbox 360 has enjoyed one heck of a ride, with arguably the best line-up of games this year than in any other year in the console's history. Which games made it to the top 5 list for the Xbox 360 in 2011?

5. Batman: Arkham City - Typically games released about franchises such as Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, etc. are nothing more than shallow adventure titles which lack polish and originality. Batman: Arkham City broke that mold completely, with the best Batman game to date, hands down.

The game was tremendous on so many levels with fantastic gameplay, a very enjoyable story, and visuals that would impress any gamer. Batman: Arkham City easily makes the list in the top 5 games for 2011 on the Xbox 360.

4. L.A. Noire - One of the more original releases of the year, Rockstar hit a home-run with this mix between Grand Theft Auto and CSI. Amazing sequences where you conduct interrogations put gamers in the role of an investigator, a tremendous gaming experience.

3. Gears of War 3 - Epic Games did a great job with the conclusion to the Gears of War trilogy on the Xbox 360, with an enjoyable four-player campaign co-op mode that keeps gamers coming back. The online multi-player is as addictive as any Xbox Live game thus far, and the single-player campaign is a great culmination for the franchise.

2. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Elder Scrolls is a special franchise, one that has managed to really capture the imagination of gamers, and live up to the immense hype surrounding its releases each and every time. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is no different, with an amazingly deep game, placing you in a world where you can easily get lost in for months and months, no joke.

1. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 - Though it is not the most original release, it continues to be the most polished and most popular Xbox 360 release year after year, an addictive experience that keeps you coming back for more.
