TEAM USA Captures Gold In Dead or Alive 4 and Silver In Project Gotham Racing 3

USA Going For Gold in Gears of War, Tony Hawk's Project 8, Counter-Strike, and Age of Empires III in Sunday's Competition

Team USA captured three medals, including a Gold, Silver and a Bronze in the first day of medal competition on Saturday at the 2007 World Cyber Games Grand Final, taking place at Qwest Field in Seattle. Highlighting the day for the host country was Jeremy "Black Mamba" Florence who proved to be the best in the world at Dead Or Alive 4 by capturing the gold medal. Florence dominated the competition throughout the event and routed his opponent from Sweden in the gold medal match, 2-0. In a rematch of the USA Finals, The New Mexico native gained revenge over Carl "Perfect Legend" White in the semifinals as he defeated his teammate 2-1. White recovered in the bronze medal match as he defeated Korea to take third-place.

In a surprising turn of events, Project Gotham Racing's 2006 Gold medal champion Wes Cwiklo captured the silver medal for Team USA. The highly favored Cwiklo lost out to Netherland's Wouter "Handewasser" van Someren in two straight matches.

Team USA will go for more gold medals in competition tomorrow in Gears of War, Tony Hawk's Project 8, Counter-Strike and Age of Empires III. Two members of Team USA have already advanced to the gold medal match including Dustin Valcada in Tony Hawk and Raghav Phadke in Age of Empires III. The heavily favored Valcada will be pitted against the United Kingdom in the finals while Phadke will battle Korea. The Gears of War team has had little trouble in the early rounds and is currently in the quarterfinals while the Counter-Strike team advanced to the semifinals in a thrilling victory over Russia.

Tomorrow promises to be another action packed day at the world Cyber Games 2007 Grand Final. TEAM USA looks to continue their solid play headed into the medal rounds, while traditional powers Korea and Germany strive to maintain their designation as the top gaming nations in the world.
