Strike Suit Zero Announced, Lift-Off Set for Q1 2012

Yet another space combat game is on the way in the near future as sci-fi robot ships take on defending humanity during the final hours of the home planet.

Doublesix Games - already known for Burn Zombie Burn! and the upcoming All Zombies Must Die! - is branching into apocalyptic Star Trek meets Gundam gameplay with today's announcement of Strike Suit Zero. Now I'm sure you're wondering how I got that analogy stuck in my head, and it works like so: Star Trek in that you have starships that are equipped with space combat technology, and Gundam in that your ship can take on the shape of a robot. Seriously. I'm not making this up.

There's also a bit of Mass Effect dumped in such that your actions may have a lasting effect on the progression of the story. Little else is known beyond that for now, but we do know that mechanical designs have been contributed by Junji Okubo (who previously worked on designs for Appleseed: Ex Machina, Steel Battalion) with a soundtrack provided by Homeworld composer Paul Ruskay. Additional information will be provided upon availability - which should not be that far off considering that Strike Suit Zero) is set to make its first appearance at next week's gamescom event.

Strike Suit Zero is set to infiltrate Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network in Q1 2012.
