Sherlock Holmes Vs Jack the Ripper Confirmed for North America

The Xbox 360 doesn't yet have a huge library of classic adventure games, but with the release of Alan Wake this year, that number will grow by one. Another adventure title to keep an eye on is Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper by Focus Home Interactive. This game will be available in store shelves in March 2010, and it was developed by the same team responsible for the excellent Sam & Max games.

Under the new publishing brand "The Adventure Company", this game is actually adapted from a novel by the same name. The company's past releases include similar adventure games like Sam & Max, Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes. Considering the success of the recent Hollywood film featuring Johny Depp, now seems like the perfect time to revisit the streets of 19th century London.

This will be the first time that Sherlock Holmes makes his appearance on the Xbox 360. Xbox 360: In this dark and epic adventure, Holmes is hot on the trail of one of the most dangerous serial murderers in British history.

London, 1888. A series of horrendous murders has left a trail of blood throughout the troubled London district of Whitechapel. Atrociously mutilated prostitutes' bodies are found by the police without them being able to find a serious lead. Nobody, nothing seems to be able to stop this brutal killer, and the population is close to panicking. Step into Sherlock Holmes' boots and solve the most sinister case in his career. Sherlock Holmes starts looking for clues in the dark and sinister alleys of Whitechapel in order to follow the macabre trail of the one the press now calls Jack the Ripper. During an adventure full of twists, Sherlock Holmes will try to bring out the true identity and the motives of the one who hides behind this scary alias. Over the course of the game, players will fully explore the twisting, gloomy back streets of 19th Century London in order to follow the trail of the gruesome criminal whose name alone suffices to spread fear and horror.

Sounds pretty good to us, and considering that the PC version of the game has received generally strong reviews, we look forward to checking this out when it finally hits the Xbox 360 in North America.

To solve the mystery, players will interact with inhabitants of the London streets, both living and dead.
