Microsoft had some interesting Xbox 360 data points to report yesterday based upon information from NPD. Here is a breakdown of the highlights as reported by the software giant:

- NPD reported that 294,000 Americans purchased an Xbox 360 last month.
- Xbox 360 still has a record-setting software attach rate – currently at 5.1 – due in part to an unprecedented portfolio appealing to gamers of all kinds.
- Xbox 360 had four of the top 10 selling games on any console this month, according to NPD: “Lost Planet: Extreme Condition” (CAPCOM), “Gears of War” (MGS), “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas” (Ubisoft) and “Madden NFL 07” (EA Sports).
- NPD ranked the exclusive Xbox 360 title “Lost Planet: Extreme Condition” (CAPCOM) as January’s number one best-selling title across all gaming consoles in the United States. This intense sci-fi shooter game shipped 409,000 copies in the US, and one million copies in the US and Europe combined – outselling all other games.
- “Gears of War” (MGS) – also exclusive to Xbox 360 – was the third best-selling video game in the United States at 221,000 copies sold last month.
