Gamers were understandably skeptical about downloadable content when the idea was first proposed. Missteps like the infamous "horse armor" download for Oblivion cemented the feeling that offering additional content for a fee was simply a way for developers to cash in without offering any real value.
Well, it seems as though game developers and console makers are finally beginning to understand that downloadable content has to provide more than a few cosmetic changes in order to tempt gamers to pull out their wallets. Fans of Tecmo's ultra-bloody slash fest might just be tempted by new content planned for the Xbox 360.
On July 25th, Microsoft will release a whopping 25 new levels for Ninja Gaiden II. The company has described this DLC as "The equilvalent of a whole new single player campaign". Unfortunately, the new content will not be free, but at 800 Microsoft points ($10) , the new mission pack seems to offer good value. Will you be purchasing this new content when it arrives on Friday?
