Microsoft to Roll Out Their Own Brand of "Mii"

A set of leaked documents from market survey company Intellisponse reveal that Microsoft has plans to unveil their own brand of animated “Avatars” to compete with those already found on the Nintendo Wii.

The marketing materials suggest that Microsoft will be adding additional functionality to their online service this fall in the form of lifelike, animated characters. These avatars, which will replace the current gamer picture, strongly resemble those already offered by rival company Nintendo. One of the joys of Nintendo Wii ownership has been crafting perfect re-creations of friends and celebrities using the character design tools. There is no word yet on what kind of design options will be included with the Microsoft version, but the marketing material states that these Avatars “will give you a much more animated, lifelike and fully customizable persona for you to reflect who you are online.”
