Microsoft May Have Delayed Launch Of Xbox 720 To 2013

The Microsoft Xbox 720 has been long-believed to be gearing up for a release during the holiday shopping season in 2012. The most likely release date being pointed at was November of 2012, allowing it to go head-to-head with the follow-up to the Nintendo Wii, the WiiU.

This may no longer be the case though according to new reports coming out in regards to the development of the new next-generation console from Microsoft.

The gaming industry continues to ride the popularity of the current generation of consoles, with both the Xbox 360 and the Sony PS3 still doing very well in terms of sales.

Consoles have also seen their lives extended further with the additions of technology such as the Xbox 360 Kinect, as well as the PlayStation Move.

Microsoft has reportedly replaced the man in charge of development of the Xbox 720 and its entire design.

Taking that into account, it is now believed that the Xbox 720 will be released in November of 2013, rather than in 2012.

Microsoft has confirmed that they have relieved Don Coyner of his duties as the head of the Xbox brand at Microsoft.

Mr. Coyner has been known to be the man behind the Xbox as well as the Xbox 360 in many facets.

Emma Williams has been promoted to take over the reigns of the Xbox 720, and that is believed to have truly changed where they are going with the Xbox 720.

Microsft is planning on keeping the Xbox 360 alive for at least four more years, and it appears they will rely on it to carry their gaming business until at least 2013 according to these latest reports.
