Microsoft: LittleBigBoku?

It looks like Microsoft will be cutting into Sony's build-your-own platformer, LittleBigPlanet, with the release of their programming tool, dubbed Boku. Boku is currently detailed on the Microsoft Research website and boasts such features as cross-platform production on both the PC and the Xbox 360, interactive terrain editor, and 20 different characters, each with their own abilities.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Boku is the fact that it can apparently be used to create many different types of games, instead of your regular side-scrolling platformer. Boku will be able to create 2D action games, overhead shooters, and even 3D action games, which could seriously put a stint in LittleBigPlanet, given the amount of functionality Boku is expected to have. There's currently no word on when Boku will be released, but fans of Sack Boy watch out, Boku's Stick Boy is on the way!

Check out this short video of what Boku is currently capable of doing and be amazed.
