Mass Effect 2 Announced for Early 2010

One of our top 5 favorite Xbox 360 games will be getting a much-anticipated seqel, according to developers at Bioware. Mass Effect was arguably the best game released on the system back in 2007, and it is undoubtedly one of the most epic western RPGs that we've ever played. The end of the first game left things hanging in a way that a sequel was almost assured, but we are pleased to hear an official confirmation from the company considering the current economic uncertainty that is effecting many large game projects. The developer confidently says that this new game will be the second instalment in a planned trilogy, so fans of the series have lots more Mass Effect to look forward to.

In this dark second chapter of the series, Saren’s evil army of Geth soldiers has just been defeated, and humans, still struggling to make their mark on the galactic stage, are now faced with an even greater peril.

“We’re going to surpass the extraordinary gaming experience we brought our fans in Mass Effect by delivering intensified combat and expanded weapon options as well as increased depth of planet exploration, all while delivering a powerful, emotionally engaging story,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, CEO of Bioware.

The company also released a short teaser trailer for the game yesterday, which you can check out right here:
