L.A. Noire Gameplay Video Reveals More Details

Rockstar has sent us a brand new L.A. Noire trailer, which we know will be of interest to our readers. In development for more than 5 years, this epic crime thriller has finally been given a 2011 release date. Judging from the trailer below, the game has been worth the wait.

The first in this series of in-depth gameplay videos for L.A. Noire, "Orientation" is an overview of the game's core mechanics from searching for clues, to the fundamentals of witness interrogation, and classic action including brawling and shootouts. Think of it as Phoenix Wright with dames, guns. Using all in-game footage, this first gameplay video in the series explains how your detective skills, intuition and cunning have the power to make or break each case.

The graphics engine clearly shares a lot of similarities with that used in GTA IV. That means there are some low-resolution textures and blocky geometry on display, but overall the game world seems suitably epic in scope and seems to run at a good clip with plenty of pedestrians and traffic. The developers have also included some aesthetic touches , such as a high-contrast lighting filter, which help contribute to the cinematic noir look of the game. But as with GTA IV, it is all about the story for Rockstar. And LA Noire appears to be forging new ground in terms of narrative depth and player immersion. We can't wait to see more of LA Noire, and we will share it with you once we do.
