How to get an HDMI Signal on an Older Xbox 360

Prior to 2007, some Xbox 360 models did not include an HDMI out port, meaning that component or VGA cables were the only way to enjoy high-definition video on the machine. Since many people who own the original Xbox 360 have since gone out and purchased newer HD television displays, there is a need for a solution to the lack of HDMI connectivity on the old "Core" models of the Xbox 360. Well, thanks to an audio/video company called Gefen, we now have the answer.

Their component to HDMI converter does exactly what it says -- allowing you to plug your Xbox 360 directly into an HDMI port on your TV. It will even convert a VGA signal for a slightly better image, as well as handling analog sound input. There are some cheaper alternatives, namely the Madcatz brand converter, but that one is simply junk and does not put out a very good signal. For serious videophiles, the best solution short of buying an entirely new Xbox, is the Gefen HDMI converter.
