How Much Would You Spend On The Xbox 720 At Launch

The Xbox 360 is bound to have a successor, and reports are that its next-generation home console, now referred to as the Xbox 720, will likely release in November 2012. Just how much would you spend in the Xbox 720 at launch though?

The Xbox 360 released to a great deal of hype and anticipation when it released back in 2005.

The anticipation among gamers made it very easy to justify the $399.99 price tag that came with the next-generation handheld.

This seemed, at the time, like the right price for the console as it was a logical advancement over the release price point of the Sony PS2, which launched at the $299.99 price point years earlier.

So what is the price point going to be for the follow-up to the Xbox 360?

One sign may revolve around what the current major technology devices are selling for.

The top-of-the-line tablet on the market, the Apple iPad 2, sells for a base price of $599.99. Even the Sony PS3 when it made its debut, was being sold at that price point.

We have seen this price copied by many other companies including Samsung, BlackBerry, Motorola, and others when releasing tablet devices and other high-technology devices.

This would make it seem quite logical that Microsoft would sell the Xbox 720 at launch for $599.99.

If Microsoft wanted to get the installed user-base up quickly, they could sell it at a loss, say for $399.99 or $499.99, but that would mean they would be banking on making up the money via Xbox Live and accessories.

What are your thoughts what would you spend on the Xbox 720 at launch?
