Hackers Find Way to Un-ban Xbox 360 Consoles

For millions of gamers caught using modified Xbox 360 consoles to play pirated games, the inevitable ban hammer has put a stop to their online access to Xbox Live. A recent wave of bannings left many modders frustrated as they could no longer access their online profiles. However, enterprising hackers have found a way to un-ban previously banned consoles by downgrading and re-installing the dashboard firmware on the device. Users of the Infectus I and II mod chip can purchase an inexpensive add-on that allows them to hack the main CPU of their console and downgrade the firmware to an older (pre-ban) version.

According to retailer Divineo.com, the X360 CPU Time Attack Addon is a little PCB that is studied to fit exactly on the pads of Infectus 1 and 2. With this PCB installed, anybody can do the X360 CPU time attack that allows one to downgrade the Xbox 360 dashboard. A new era of X360 scene has now been opened for homebrew (and piracy).

The claimed features of this chip are:

1- Installation of alternative X360 DASHBOARDS
2- UNBAN XBOX 360
3- Find and change keys of X360 drivers (to recover broken or damaged consoles)

Of course, we don't advise doing any of this, but banned pirates may find some hope in bringing their old consoles back to life. That is, until Microsoft finds a new way to detect and punish hardware modders.

With some soldering skills and determination, banned Xbox 360 owners can now reset their consoles to a more pristine state.
