Flakboy Makes Triumphant Return, We Need a XBLA Port Now

One of the most entertaining online flash games ever created got a sequel this week. We really can't heap enough praise on the original Flakboy -- and its even more polished sequel. The games, which combine physics-based puzzling with highly destructive weaponry, are difficult without being frustrating, and reward players in the most satisfyingly macabre way possible for getting it right.

The titular Flakboy is an unlucky sort of chap. He dutifully appears in a grid-shaped room, around which the player has laid all kinds of nefarious traps. Setting off in a player-determined direction, he is quickly set upon by trip mines, automated turrets, flame throwers, and some exotic new weapons with names like the skinerator. The player has a set amount of damage that must be inflicted on Flakboy, so setting up combos between traps is key. After the first blow, flakboy is usually incapable of moving under his own power, so the player must take advantage of ragdoll physics to send his flailing body from one part of the room to the next.

The main advantage of Flakboy 2 is that it's free. The main disadvantages are that it's fairly short and so far only available on PC and iPhone. So, developers at Spil games take note: we'd love to see an expanded version of the online game for Xbox Live.

While we wait for a proper console version, head on over to the website and play it online for free.
