Ferrari Cars Not Really Exclusive to Forza 3
A somewhat misleading press release issued by Microsoft had car fans in a tizzy this morning as it was claimed that a number of Ferrari cars were "exclusive to Forza 3 on the Xbox 360". Exclusive DLC, pre-order bonuses and the like have become common this generation, and it is often hard to keep track of which console has what as an 'exclusive'. However, since iconic cars like the Ferrari Enzo are already included in Gran Tursimo for the PSP, we know that it is not the case. So what does Microsoft really mean by the press release?
"Exclusive to Xbox 360! Forza Motorsport 3 will include 29 classic models from the legendary manufacturer, including iconic cars such as the Ferrari 250 GTO, Ferrari 512 TR, Ferrari F40, Ferrari Enzo, and Ferrari 430 Scuderia at the title's release on the 23rd of October. These beauties also form just a small part of the full package of over 400 cars to choose from!"
It turns out that Ferrari cars are not really exclusive to Forza 3 at all. in fact, there is nothing in this press release that even suggests another video game manufacturer couldn't license those same cars in their own game for use on the Xbox 360. How about Project Gotham Racing? It has Ferraris, doesn't it? Effectively, there is absolutely nothing that we can find either exclusive to the Xbox 360 or Forza 3 in this press release, which is essentially saying nothing more than 'yes, we also have Ferrari cars in our game'. But that doesn't quite have the same ring to it, now does it?
We don't want to diss on Forza 3, but software companies and console manufacturers are beginning to get too dependent on the idea of "exclusive" content to sell games. Perhaps they should first focus on making a good game, and then worry about the specific bullet points later.
Ferrari cars sure look great in Forza 3, but are they exclusive?

"Exclusive to Xbox 360! Forza Motorsport 3 will include 29 classic..."
All I read when reading that was Forza Motorsport 3 is exclusive to Xbox 360. At no point did I take it as MS trying to claim Ferrari was exclusive to Forza 3.

Hey, um, I don't want to question your comprehension skills here, but that is obviously meant to be understood that Forza 3 is exclusive to the 360. They've mentioned that in like every Forza 3 press release so far, and they've mentioned it again. They could have put the sentence together better so as to avoid confusing people, but they probably figured you wouldn't think they mean that Ferraris were exclusive to FM3, because obviously that's not the case in any reality. It seemed pretty obvious to me, a casual reader, what they meant. I certainly wouldn't have felt the need to write a news post about it or email them asking for clarification! I would have just used my brain for a few seconds and figured out what they were saying. Let me re-phrase it for you, though: "Coming in October: Forza 3 is exclusive to the XBox 360! It has 29 Ferraris! etc."

Thanks for this info! Now, Turn 10 and Dan Greenawalt has claimed alot of stuff which in the end wasn't true. When they say that some ferraris are exclusives, i dont really believe it either.. If im right, there's a game called "Ferrari Challenge". I think it supports more ferraris than Forza 3. Or am I wrong?

I think u missed a point in this press release. These cars are exclusive to the Xbox in this game, only in Forza 3. The DLC will be for Xbox 360 only.

Maybe they mean that that particular collection of Ferrari models is exclusive.
Or maybe they mean that Forza 3 is exclusive.

It's just people misreading. It says "Exclusive to the 360" referring to the game, Forza 3. Nothing more. Meaning, Forza 3 is an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Not sure I understand what your saying in that last paragraph. You admitted that in the pres release T10 in no way said any Ferrari's were exclusive to Forza, meaning they did nothing wrong. It was panicked fanboys(most likely GT5/Sony fanboys) who blew this out of proportion. So why the comment in the last paragraph blaming the console makers and software companies? Why is the gaming media so scared stiff of playstation fanboys?
