Electronic Arts today said they had finally closed the door on the deal to fully acquire Battlefield developer Digital Illusions CE. The deal, as described by GameDaily.biz, was two years in the making because of Digital Illusions stockholder resistance. EA said the Swedish video game development team will become a fully integrated EA studio and that Digital Illusions CEO Patrick Soderlund will become an EA Studio General Manager, maintaining responsibility for the DICE studio and taking on additional creative responsibilities. Digital Illusions is currently working on Battlefield: Bad Company for the Xbox 360.
