EA Announces Battlefield 1943, Bad Company 2
Electronic Arts has issued some great news today for fans of its WWII themed shooters. The company is already hard at work on a new sequel to Bad Company, which will be released for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC later in 2009.
Electronic Arts also announced that a new multiplayer shooter called Battlefield 1943 will be coming to the Playstation Store and Xbox LIVE Marketplace this winter. There will also be a downloadable PC version, so there is no need for veterans of the series to worry over the move to console platforms. Battlefield 1942 was one of the most popular multiplayer team-based shooters ever made, and it is great to see an updated version headed our way.
Using the same Frostbite engine from Bad Company, Battlefield 1943 takes players back to familiar pacific islands of WWII. Just like the classic title, on which we spent countless joyous hours, this map pack contains new versions of Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. We absolutely cannot wait to bring our readers more news about this game.
Oh yeah, and there was that whole business about Bad Company 2. In this game, which is due later in the year, ‘B’ company will fight their way through snowy mountaintops, dense jungles and dusty villages. With a heavy arsenal of deadly weapons and a slew of vehicles to aid them, the crew set off on their mission and they are ready to blow up, shoot down, blast through, wipe out and utterly destroy anything that gets in their way. Total destruction is the name of the game, delivered as only the DICE next generation Frostbite engine can. Either online or offline, enemies will soon learn there is nowhere to hide.
