Doctor Who Game Incredibly Popular, Should Come to 360

One of the hottest science fiction shows on air this year has undoubtedly been the new Doctor Who, starring Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. For those viewers in America who don't yet know the series, it is one of the longest-running shows of all time, featuring a wayward Time Lord named the Doctor, who traverses time and space in search of adventure, as well as revenge for the destruction of his home world. He's much more Johnny Depp than William Shatner, preferring to solve problems with brain power rather than brawn. The BBC, which produces the show, has also created an interactive episodic video game. The game has proven an incredible success on the PC and Mac platforms, and the broadcaster should definitely consider bringing it to consoles like the Xbox 360.

Over half a million people downloaded the first episode of the Doctor Who video game in the first 12 days of its release. A new episode has been added this week, with more expected in the coming months. All of the games are offered for free.

Unsurprisingly, the BBC website has reported a week-on-week increase in unique UK visitors of over 67 per cent in the full week the game was available.

and executive producer Steven Moffat believes their on-screen chemistry is part of
the reason why viewers up and down the country are drawn to the video game adventure.

"Matt Smith has conquered space," says Steven Moffat, head writer and executive producer, Doctor Who, "now he's conquering cyberspace. The way the games capture the look and feel of the TV series is amazing. Matt Smith walks like a drunken giraffe on-screen and also in-game - it's a virtuoso virtual performance, and one I'm delighted is proving to be so popular. Just worried I won't get any writing done, what with playing the game all the time.

Look for these games to be headed to an Xbox 360 console near you some time soon, at least in the UK.
