Deus Ex: Human Revolution Gameplay Video
We aren't big fans of the cheesy voice acting in this gameplay demonstration for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. But we are excited to try out the combat system, which looks like a faster-paced version of the VATS system used in Fallout 3. The graphics in this cyberpunk thriller seem close to what has been promised in the teaser images we've been salivating over for years now. Environment shave a very Blade Runner-like futuristic sheen to them, with lots of gadgets and hacking terminals to be found lying around the environments. The video also gives a look at the game's slick user interface and inventory system, which players will have to carefully manage, depending on what augmentations they've given their character.
The developers say that branching possibilities were a big part of the design of the game:
'Some choices will be presented in ways that the outcome will be more obvious but, a lot of choices will be more or less hidden in the challenges you face and in the narrative. Depending on how you react, later outcomes will vary. We didn't want to make a game where all the choices are telegraphed because it makes the choice more often than not based on how you want to boost your character as opposed as being immersed in the fantasy of the game. It's definitely more subtle than a lot of games,' the developers said.
Hacking will be a viable option for getting through many of the game's challenges, the designers assure us. A lot of care and attention has apparently gone in to making the hacking minigame entertaining and rewarding for players who decide to go that route.
