Cry On Cancelled, Mistwalker Fans Disappointed

This was a bad week for Japanese developer Mistwalker and publisher AQ Interactive. The studio responsible for Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey announced that it has cancelled its latest RPG project for the Xbox 360 entitled Cry On. According to the company, poor economic conditions prompted the cancellation: "AQI decided to cancel the project after analyzing the current market environment and forecasts for the future. We deeply apologize for troubling those who were awaiting its release.” Microsoft, which published Blue Dragon on the Xbox 360, did not have anything to do with this cancellation.

Cry On was an action RPG title set in a mythical world where humans and giants were at war. The game would have revolved around the relationship between a young human girl and a giant sand creature from the opposing side. Very little else was known about the project, and no screenshots of the game had been shown to the public. The title was originally announced back in 2005, and brought together talented developers Hironobu Sakaguchi and Kimihiko Fujisaka.

Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey were both promising projects despite receiving mediocre reviews. We hope that the team members who worked on these projects will find other interesting games to bring to our eager hands.
