Capcom's Monumental Deal

top_secret-t.jpg

Capcom announced that they've inked a development deal with Monumental Games. The UK-based online games studio will develop an unannounced multi-platform title scheduled for release later this year to be published by Capcom. Founded in 2005, Monumental are the developers behind a Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) football world, Football Superstars and an MMO hunting game, Hunter's World.

Although mum's the word on their console project, my money's on an MMO RPG à la Monster Hunters. It's not a bad bet, given their history and recent hires.

Monumental is joined recently by game director Ron Harris, a 20-year industry veteran, and project lead Ewan Lamont, former production manager of the pen and paper RPG Warhammer.

Back in November 2008, Monumental opened up a games studio in Pune, India and acquired Swordfish Studios (Manchester, England) from Activision, a team distinguished for successfully running and managing the XLSP (Xbox LIVE Server Platform) server environments for online console gaming.
