Bomberman Sequel Detonates on Xbox Live This Winter

Be forewarned that there are a lot of bomb-related puns in the following news release. But what would you expect from the announcement of a new Bomberman title? That's right, one of the best-selling Xbox Live Arcade games is set to get a sequel sometime this winter. Hudson Entertainment has announced that Bomberman Live: Battlefest is coming to the Xbox Live Arcade service. Bomberman Live: Battlefest will feature the same explosive (1) action with 8-person online multiplayer that the series is known for, as well as a number of new features including teams, new modes, new arenas, new power-ups, new costumes, and even the ability to use an avatar as a playable character.

"It's Bomberman time again, and we're thrilled to give fans another installment with much-demanded new features," said Sabine Duvall, Vice President of Digital Download at Hudson Entertainment. "Bomberman is one of the most beloved figures in gaming and it's a blast to continue the legacy of this fun and frenetic classic with Bomberman Live: Battlefest."

Since winning 'Best Overall XBLA Game' and 'Best Competitive Multiplayer Game' in the first-ever Xbox LIVE Arcade Awards at GDC 2008, Bomberman LIVE reignited the fuses (2) of Bomberman fans around the world. In Bomberman Live: Battlefest, players will be able to choose from more arenas than ever, including an Adventure Island-themed arena, a shape-shifting MultiMaze and a Pirate Ship crashing through the waves. With the all new team play feature, 2-4 players can join up, battle other teams and set the online world on fire! (3)

Players will also be able to customize their own Bomberman by choosing from a plethora of new costumes, as they mix and match pieces of Napoleon Bombaparte (4), Chef Bombardee (5), Sir Bombalot (6) and more. With five new power-ups like the cluster bomb, rocket bomb and laser bomb, and four new modes like VIP, Bankroll, Capture the Flag and Capture the Crown, Bomberman Live: Battlefest is sure to be a fiery (7) addition to gaming libraries everywhere!
