120 GB Hard Drive Gets Price Cut

Microsoft has unveiled a series of price cuts designed to make their Xbox 360 hardware more attractive. The Elite model will now be priced at $399, The "Pro" package will be available for $299, and the Arcade model (which does not include a hard drive) will retail for $199. One potential sticking point for those considering picking up the ridiculously cheap Arcade package, is the lack of a hard drive in that model. Microsoft uses a proprietary, external solution for storage, and these hard drives are notoriously expensive. On the other hand, with loads of great HD content on offer from the Live Arcade service, it is practically required to own a hard drive in order to get the most out of the 360 experience.

In an effort to entice those who might still be on the fence, the Redmond company today announced price cuts for their largest external hard drive. The 120 gb drive, which previously sold for a whopping $179, will now be available at a more reasonable $149. Of course, this is still much higher than it needs to be, considering that most PC hard drives of the same size sell for less than $70.
