WWW Part 2: Master Chief vs Samus Aran: And the Winner is...

Halo_3_Master_Chief_t.jpg

(Head over to this page for part 1 of the epic confrontation between what can only be described as two forces of nature)

When last we left our avenging heroes, Master Chief and Samus Aran were locked in mortal battle over Halo's control center. Their fight had left the controls a total wreck, angering Samus who had crash landed on the ring in hopes to save her adoptive home planet Zebes from imminent annihilation. Having lost any means to stop the energy weapon from firing, Samus is engulfed by an uncontrollable rage that can only be sated with blood....

******** Who Will Win (WWW)?: Master Chief vs Samus Aran - Part 2: The Finale ********

Samus reels from the headshot, visor cracked. She retaliates with a well-placed missile shot to an exploding barrel next to Master Chief. He stumbles to recover. His shields are down. Samus pushes her advantage by charging up an Ice Beam and then just as she lets go, she sees the plasma grenade that Master Chief stuck on her during their last grapple. Before she can get it off, it detonates with deadly effect. The space-station's titanium laced windows shatter like brittle glass, leaving the combatants to feel the cold suction of vacuous space.

Meanwhile Samus' Ice Beam hits Master Chief square on the leg, freezing him to the metal deck. It was a risky gamble but his plasma grenade blew a chunk off Samus' Power Suit, leaving her ribs broken and bleeding.

metroid18b.jpg

Samus takes no heed of the wrenching pain. She leaps into the air and fires her Grappling Beam and disarms Master Chief. The guns land with a thud twenty feet away while Samus slides within kissing distance of Master Chief. A single breath later and she is on him, her arm cannon knuckled under Master Chief's chin.

Their helmets are side to side. Her lips next to his ear. Finally she speaks, "Get off my planet." With that, she overcharges her cannon and releases it full blast into Master Chief's head... And it is eviscerated!

She plants a giant cluster of 99 bombs in the engine room set to a 3-minute delay. By what can only be called divine luck, she finds an escape pod near the top deck. She launches into the void of space, hoping that she had done enough to save Zebes. God knows she's done too much already.

ok lets get real who really knows samus has the advantage with mobility an can move at light speed and she also does have a freeze ray she has less to carry but probable does more damage an also has a cannon that she summoneds from the heavens like ironman that shots out rainbow like energy of some kind that can destroy giant brain beast but master cheif has the advantage in damage reduction health recovery in weapons combadability an he is taller but he would be to slow even if things move slower in his eyes samus also has the ability to get instant info on her target so really the question to ask is who would win with the spartan vs solid snake and with samus vs megaman

Master chief is stronger, faster and smarter in combat. He's been trained to be a professional soldier since he was six and he's been given augmentations which have made him nearly invincible. Also he has the advantage of an A.I in his helmet. Also Master Chief is extremely lucky(if you read the books and watched the intro to Halo 3 you'll know). And his shields are stronger He dropped into earth's atmosphere from the outer space to the middle of an African jungle and survived without anyone healing him(and he was able to still fight and walk despite of the incredible jump). And he weighs half a ton and is seven feet and two inches O_o and as mentioned before, he can lift up to 4000 pounds! And smart A.Is(in the halo universe) are capable to PREDICT where extremely fast objects land so Master Chief can easily predict where Samus is going despite her ability to run"faster than light".

HAVE YOU EVEN PLAYED HALO? Seriously, Halo is a ring world complete with atmosphere, its not an airless abyss.

The silent cartographer is inside the ring where there are "bottomless pits of doom" there isn't enough room to maneuver more than a step or three in any direction, and what about the Covenant?

The Chief's armor can handle everything from an over charged PP to reentering the atmosphere to fighting thousands of zombies. I think it would take more than a simple energy blast to take out his shield and kill him. And the ice beam, that wouldn't even connect with him. His shield stands off from his body a full inch and nothing can pass though with out either taking down his shield or bouncing off.

Oh yeah, and what about the over-shield? frags? And the fact that chief CAN FLIP A 65 TON TANK!!! His reflexes are perfect to the point of being AI, and he always has a trick up his sleeve.

All you metroid freaks are crazy, master chief doesn't go after pirates, he goes against highly elite alien armies, flesh feeding parasite, and a army of flying droids with laser beams. Samus always hides while Master Chief charges straight and murders everyone and blows the aliens to pieces with pure UNSC LEAD!!!!!!! And come on the turning into a ball and running, grow up and take the battle to the battlefield or make one, dont be like samus and go into small sewers and rat holes. Fight Spartan Tough and watch you competition run!(thats when you grab a gravity hammer)

what am i reading???

wooooow. literally master chief would win he IS faster then her he IS stronger then her and he IS smarter then her! samus is a super athlete and she has had lots of training from age 3-14 and she is agile and quick because of her training and her DNA changes but chief has dna changes training and future steroids that if effective has no side effects (if not effective you die or are severly crippled lol) if they are then your basically perfect. plus chief is just if not more as fast as her but he can see slow motion which would make him faster plus he has been fighting much much much more dangerous opponents then her the arbiter would rape samus same with some of the "elite" elites. ok so quickness chief wins strength? lol chief wins he can lift 50 tons iv played the samus game in the cube and she got no where near that ever. chief flips elephents thats his proof. (vehicle in halo 3 that us HUGE) strength goes to chief plus he is a man (NOT sexist but men are naturally stronger anyways. smarts? i could go vice versa cause samus can hack like alot of stuff and i bet her DNA changes made her really smart to. chief's future "steroids" made him freakin smart (its int he books)and he was 1 out of like a couple hundred kids that were chosen out of hundreds maybe thousands of human planets so he had to be the best of the best already. smarts i say still say chief cause more proof is on chief side. samus was an average girl before her dna changes, chief was never an average boy to begin with. plus he has cortana which tips the scales even more on chiefs side.

If Samus had one thing over Master Chief, it would be that she has her own ship....

Not much else I can think of.

Oh yeah, and a cannon. Make that two things

Samus is a female with the knowledge to kill only a few things. Space Pirates, Metroids, and whatever else there was.

Master Chief is a dude who knows how to barrel a warthog into 75 Grunts and then use the MLAAG on the rear to wipe clean the rest of the army of Jackals, Elites, Hunters, Brutes, and the occasional Flood.

He is also considered the Luckiest Spartan.

Samus is just considered a babe

i beg your pardon, but SAMUS would win. if you gave the spartan and samus maximum armor and weaponry (chief: overshields, sniper rifle, spartan laser, SPNKr) (samus: full energy, Hyper-beam, ice beam, rockets) samus would win. she is faster she has greater fire power. id go on but id like to save my breath. not one of you chiefers could make a realistic scenario where the chief would be samus.

Wall of text incoming. (Props to whomever originally posted it elsewhere anonymously)

Let’s talk some about Master Chief’s in-game armaments, shall we? First off, he wears a MJOLNIR Mark V and VI armor in the games, which is designed by humans (more on that later). It is an armor that only a few can wear due to durability concerns of regular humans; for Master Chief to wear this armor he must be an extraordinary human being. Since the armor also amplifies his ‘output’, so to speak, that means that he can lift great weights in the suit.
Now, Samus by comparison, is completely different. She has a suit that was designed with her, and only her, in mind. It was designed by an ancient race of technologically advanced bird people, the Chozo, widely thought to be the most advanced race in the universe. This suit (by itself) has no amplifications to her body, yet she manages to jump great heights. Why is this? Because her body is infused with the blood of the Chozo (though the e-manga states that she was ‘transfused’ with Chozo DNA. Actually, I like that explanation more as it does make more sense. Credit to John Calvin goes to this addition, too). What does this mean? It amplifies her frail human body to superhuman standards so that she can survive on the planet of Zebes, which apparently has a harsher environment (and apparently increased gravity, greater than that of earth).
While this may not sound like a lot, my colleague Saiyan Master Vegeta put this into perspective more me: “Saiyan Master Vegeta” Samus’ physical strength hasn’t been established to a great extent, however it is known that her general ability (without the suit) greatly exceeds that of a normal human being, due to her being infused with Chozo blood as a child. Judging from her enormous leaps, even just from a stand-still, I’d estimate that Samus is roughly 50 times stronger than a human being. That may sound like a slight stretch, but let’s look at the numbers: An average person can jump about 2 feet in the air from a stand-still. At the beginning of Metroid Prime, Samus exits her ship, and jumps at least 100 feet in the air, landing with ease afterwards. As is repeatedly stated throughout Metroid games, the Chozo blood which she was infused with gave her immense strength. It is only reasonable to believe that this strength was distributed in appropriate amounts throughout her body. Due to this, Samus should logically be about 50 times stronger than a human being. Now, to get a little more technical, the average adult male should be able to bench press about 150 lbs (I’m an averagely slim teenager who doesn’t work out, and I can bench 130 lbs). Going by the logic that Samus is approximately 50 times stronger than a human being, and that her additional bloodline strength was distributed in proper amounts (I.E. Her arm strength should be 50 times stronger than that of a human’s arms, and her leg strength should be about 50 times stronger than that of human legs), she should be able to bench press approximately 7500 lbs, equaling 3.75 tons. I’m not saying those numbers are correct, but the theory behind it is.
Now, on to Samus’s ’shielding’. Samus’s shield seems to work in a similar way to Master Chief’s but lacks a ‘recharge’ function. However, it seems that her suit is far more modular (as will be discussed later) and expandable than the MJOLNIR amour, by a great deal. Without going too much into her armaments (that is for another section!), I will point out that that Samus can gain ‘energy’ tanks, which increase the maximum strength of the shield. So, while she starts off with 99 energy, she can theoretically reach upwards of 2099 energy. Now put this into perspective, a missile (which is said to be of a higher yield than the Halo missiles) takes away roughly 40-50 energy, and that is with the weakest shielding (at max power that damage will be cut by around 75%), whereas one missile is enough to kill the Master Chief. While I’m just guessing here, I might say that ancient and technologically advanced race (mores o than the humans in Halo, Halo 2, and Halo 3) has the tech over Master Chief.
I might say a bit about Cortana here, and why she isn’t going to be that useful in the fight. Some people (I’m sure) will bring up the whole “Master Chief will use Cortana to hack Samus and make her useless”, so let me shut this down now: Samus’s suit has been hacked by other enemies, and Samus just reboots her suit, leaving no ill effects. What would this mean for Cortana? At worst (for her) deletion, and at the very least she would be unable to hack her suit. I might also mention that Samus’s scan visor has been shown to hack into devices from a distance, with no need to directly interface with the objects themselves. So, it might very well be a valid tactic for Samus to ’scan’ Master Chief, if only to screw him up.
Now, on to weapons! Master Chief has an array of weapons (which will be detailed below) which seemed to be largely on ballistics, whereas Samus has moved on to energy based weaponry (though she still uses missiles). So, to make this post as eye-bleedingly long as possible, I will list every Halo weapon by game:
Halo: Combat Evolved
• M6D Magnum Sidearm- A small gun with a scope. Its a gun that fires tungsten bullets (apparently). However, I don’t see this doing much damage.
• MA5B ICWS Assault Rifle- An assault rifle. It fires bullets faster. Same as the M6D in terms of effectiveness against Samus.
• M90 Shotgun- This might do something, but only in close range. However, with Samus’s weapons and fighting style, I don’t see this happening.
• SRS99C-S2 AM Sniper Rifle - While it does have a better scope and power (and range) than the handgun (and kills most everything with a single headshot), but I don’t think this will work that well. Why? Because Samus’s armor and her shielding are said to be superior to anything that Chief has ever faced (however, I would like it if the more Metroid-savvy would give more data on this than I have) and I don’t think this would do more than 100 energy, considering Metroid Prime: Hunters has a laser sniper rifle doing 200 damage with a headshot. I would consider a high-output laser that acts as a sniper rifle much more effective than a ballistic one.
• M19 SSM Rocket Launcher- I’ve covered rockets before, but I’ll say it again: “a missile (which is said to be of a higher yield than the Halo missiles) takes away roughly 40-50 energy, and that is with the weakest shielding (at max power that damage will be cut by around 75%), whereas one missile is enough to kill the Master Chief.” Yes, I quoted myself. But, at least I state the facts, right?
• M9 HE-DP Grenade- If a missile isn’t going to do much, why is a grenade going to do any better?
Halo 2
• BR55 Battle Rifle- Replaces the MA5B from H:CE. However, bullets still wouldn’t do much damage, as I’ve stated before.
• M9 HE-DP Grenade- Same as H:CE, but the blast radius is apparently smaller. Oh, and it still wouldn’t work.
• M6C Magnum Sidearm- Pretty much the same pistol we know and love from H:CE, minus the scope. Its also the same amount of worthlessness against Samus. Nothing new here.
• M90 Shotgun- According to my sources, this has a shorter effectiveness range. This means that it would be even more worthless than the H:CE shotgun. Poor Master Chief
• SRS99C-S2 AMB Sniper Rifle- Same as before from H:CE, but once again it seems to be powered down. Is Halo undergoing a recession?
• M7 SMG- It fires really useless bullets really really quickly. See my point here?
• M7S Submachine Gun- Bullets are worthless. That is the moral to this story.
• M41 SSR MAV/AW Rocket Launcher- Yes. We already know that missiles are the most effective in Master Chief’s arsenal by now, but still don’t do that much damage to a full-powered Samus. Oh, and this missile launcher homes in. Whoopty doo.
Halo 3
• SRS99D-S2 AM Sniper Rifle- Apparently this is slower to fire than H2. This is getting worse and worse for the Chief here.
• M6G Magnum Sidearm- More powerful than its H2 counterpart, and fires faster. Yes, bullets are still fairly worthless.
• Spartan Laser- This is the only USNC weapon that I can see that is going to do any real damage here. This might do two tanks of damage (though the mother brain had a similar beam which continuously fired, knocked back people into walls (that had shielding) and didn’t stop until Samus was almost dead. Too bad spartan laser isn’t that powerful though.). Not to mention I think this thing is going to be hard to hit someone that can fly through the air indefinitely.
• Missile Pod- Large unwieldy weapon that fires missiles. I’ve already covered missiles.
• MA5C ICWS Assault Rifle- This new gun has a big enough clip to kill Master Chief, assuming every bullet hits. Too bad Samus’s shield at its lowest default might be considered to be four times more powerful than Master Chief’s shields.
• BR55HB SR Battle Rifle- See Halo 2 Battle rifle.
• M7 Caseless Sub Machine Gun- See the SMG from Halo 2.
• AIE-486H Heavy Machine Gun Turrets- Large unwieldy weapon that fires bullets. I think this is getting repetitive, eh?
• M41 SSR MAV/AW Rocket Launcher- No more lock on feature, larger blast radius, and doesn’t steer. Can’t Samus just dodge to the side with her onboard boosters?
• M90A CAWS Shotgun- More powerful than the Halo 2 shotgun. Still limited range. Still fires bullets.
• M7057 Defoliant Projector Flamethrower- I don’t see this helping either, as this weapon slows Master Chief down and can’t steer that well. Samus can just hit him from afar.

Notice I left out the Covenant weapons? I left them out for two reasons: one, I don’t see Master Chief getting them as regular weapons, as opposed to the human weapons; two, this is going to be long enough without that list. But, complain enough and I’ll add them.

Now, on to Samus’s weapons/abilities/equipment. Since she gets a lot of repetitive items, I’ll only list them once, as opposed to game by game. That list would be much longer than the Halo list, considering she gets the morph ball in every game:
• Power Beam: a basic weapon. Fires balls of energy. It also seems that Covenant weapons (being based around energy themselves) cut through Master Chief’s shields at a fairly fast clip, it stands to reason that she could damage Master Chief fairly quickly.
• Long beam: apparently gives a longer range to the power beam. This ability was never removed in another Metroid game, so it might be assumed that she internalized this upgrade permanently.
• Spazer Beam: This beam makes Samus’s shots spread out instead of being concentrated. I might also add that this doesn’t cause the beam to lose any of its potency.
• Wave Beam: this is electrical energy that can phase through walls. In some incarnations, it can also home in on its opponents. Electricity that can phase through Master Chief would not be pleasant.
• Ice Beam: this beam has shown the propensity to freeze large objects solid fairly quickly. Chief-sicle? All jokes aside, I’m sure freezing Master Chief in that state would prove fatal to him.
• Plasma Beam: This beam allows you to shoot beams through enemies. In Metroid Prime, it depicts the beam as a ray of plasma that goes forward at tremendous speed. Think of it like a plasma grenade, but coming from a gun. In the Prime games, it also seems melt enemies, regardless of their composition.
• Dark Beam: fires beam of dark antimatter energy. Since this is ‘otherworldly energy’ it is more effective on creatures from our world (ie, light creatures). It also seems to have a ‘freezing’ effect on some creatures, too. This also runs on ‘dark ammo’. When it is out, Samus must charge the beam to fire a regular shot. Charged shots take five dark ammo regularly and have a different effect (as listed under the charge beam section). •
Light Beam: This beam fires weapons made of ‘light energy’ (it damages things, so I assume it’s more than a giant flashlight). It also seems to have a burning effect on creatures. This runs on ammo, called ‘light ammo’. When it is out, Samus must charge the beam to fire a regular shot. Charged shots take five light ammo regularly and have a different effect (as listed under the charge beam section).
• Annihilator Beam: This beam has a high rate of fire and has a homing effect, so firing in the general direction of the enemy usually guarantees a hit. This gun uses both light and dark ammo (one per shot, fiver per charge). If she runs out of one type of ammo, she must charge the weapon to fire a regular shot. She also has a charge combo with this weapon, listed under the charge beam section.
• Nova Beam: This weapon is a high frequency beam. Before being integrated into Samus’s suit, it was used to drill through unknown materials, due to its high potency and output. Yes, so that is now on Samus’s arm.
• Charge Beam: allows Samus to ‘charge’ her beam, increasing the potency of her weapons; it is also noted in the games that a charge beam is about as destructive as a missile. She can also combine the energy that is used to make missiles with this beam to create more destructive beams, known as beam combos: ____• Wavebuster: Combined with the wave beam. This allows Samus to fire a continuous wave of electrical energy at an enemy. This attack uses up 10 missiles to activate and 5 missiles per second afterward.
____• Ice Spreader: Combined with the ice beam. This is a missile that upon impact, with it’s concussive blast, releases a rapidly spreading sheet of ice upon the impact surface.
____• Flamethrower: Combined with the plasma beam. This is a continuous Charge Combo, which fires a stream of flame with an exceedingly short range, similar to the flamethrower in Halo 3
____• Darkburst: Combined with the Dark Beam. This attack creates an interdimensional portal that pulls particles into the interdimensional void. However, some enemies are too heavy to be pulled in and just die ____• Lightblast: Combined with the light beam. Immolates enemies. what more can you say?

And now, some lovely equipment:

• Power Suit: This suit was designed for Samus by the chozo. It has environmental defensive augmentations, such as the ability to breathe underwater indefinitely, resist Space Pirate poison, and erects an energy barrier to protect against all types of attacks from all sides. It is also noted that this suit is biological in some ways, allowing a greater interface with the suit than a mere human-machine connection. There are two main upgrades to this power suit, as well as some other upgrades, which will be listed below: ____• Varia Suit: This suit allows Samus to survive superheated and supercooled areas with no ill effects. This also provides resistance to acid on some of its models. In addition, damage is reduced by roughly 50%, probably due to better shielding
____• Gravity Suit: This protects Samus from lava and acid, and provides an additional 10-25% damage reduction (in addition to the varia suit). This also allows Samus to move at full speed anywhere, no matter what the resistance. It is noted before that lava/magma has several thousand times the viscosity of water and she doesn’t suffer any ill effect from it.
____• Phazon Suit: This suit resists all but the most concentrated phazon and increases the total defense percentage to 75% stronger than the previous suits.
____• Dark Suit: This allows Samus to survive the corrosive effects of another universe, though not completely negating the effects. This stacks on top of the Varia suit, adding a 20% protection to the shielding.
____• Light Suit: This suit completely negates the corrosive effects of another dimension on Samus’s body and increases her defense by an additional 5%. Since this is a direct upgrade to the dark suit, I can see why the percentage is so low.
____• Fusion suit: This is Samus’s suit with most of the power suit removed, actually. It is also the result of combining Samus’s DNA (and the biological parts of the suit) with metroid DNA.
____• PED Suit: This suit allows her to use an energy tank to go into a higher state of being, known as ‘hyper mode’. For roughly 27 seconds, she becomes invincible and all her weapons get powered up. She also receives upgrades to this form as well:
________• Hyper Beam: this beam is much more powerful than any other beam that she has. When charged, this gun enters a ‘machine gun’-like state and fires continuously for a few seconds.
________• Hyper Missile: this is a missile of pure phazon, that has a large explosion radius. It might be assumed that these missiles are on par with super missiles or greater.
________• Hyper Ball: this causes tendrils of electricity to emit from her morph ball form, electrocuting enemies, sometimes overloading them and causing them to explode
________• Hyper Grapple: Like grapple voltage (see below), Hyper Grapple is just a more powerful version. ____• Hazard Suit: this suit gives her additional shield as well as allowing her to survive in ‘hazardous’ environments. Ha ha I made a funny (or I’ve been at this for too long you take your pick)!

____• Zero Suit: This is actually the absence of a power suit. Why include this? Because having her in her Zero suit proves a few things:
________• She doesn’t need her suit to jump really high According to John Calvin (and my double-checking), she jumps as high as she does with hi-jump boots, meaning that she can actually jump higher than the basic power suit. One might use this to go further to back up the statement that she moves under her own power rather than the suit amplifying her power.
________• Her energy tanks aren’t tied to the suit, per se, but her
________• Her suit does not actually augment her strength or reaction time in any way, meaning that her awareness at mach speed is hers, not any sort of suit enhancement.
• Morph ball: this item allows Samus to compress herself into a ball which is one meter in diameter. She is more mobile and harder to hit in this form than just plain running in power suit (this isn’t including the speed booster attachment, included later). There are several upgrades to this as well:
____• Bombs: Puts down a small bomb. She herself is resistant to the effects while it damages other enemies.
____• Power Bombs: this puts down a highly destructive bomb which blows up a small time later (as in about one to three seconds). This also happens to be one of Samus’s most destructive non-charge weapons, incidentally enough.
____• Boost Ball: Samus can charge up energy and ‘boost’ forward. This would more than likely be used as an evasive tactic by Samus, though I believe she wouldn’t need it.
____• Spider Ball: this allows Samus to ride along magnetic rails. In Metroid II, this limitation didn’t exist, allowing Samus to freely explore around.
____• Spring Ball: allows Samus to jump in ball form. Uh… “’nuff said”?
• Missiles: need I say more? There was some talk going around about how Samus’s missiles have a higher yield than the missiles than master chief uses, but I’ll leave that to others to prove. Samus typically ends up with 255 missiles contained within her suit. In addition, the Prime games augment Samus’s missiles with homing capabilities. There also happen to be a few missile upgrades as well:
____• Super Missile: same as a regular missile, but five times as destructive. They also move much faster. ____• Seeker Missiles: this allows Samus to fire 5 homing missiles simultaneously. Yes, this is bad news for the Chief.
____• Ice Missiles: they are missiles that freeze things. ’nuff said
____• Diffusion missiles: same as ice missiles but they are charged to the point that they spread the freezing out some 15-30 feet. This freezing is apparently not limited by walls or barriers either; it just spreads right through.
• Grapple Beam: this allows Samus to attach to certain surfaces and swing around. In Metroid Prime 3, there were some upgrades to this:
____• Grapple Lasso: This is an upgrade that allows Samus to ‘grapple’ onto certain objects. However, since the list of objects she can grapple is limited, I don’t think this is going to be much use, since we don’t know if it will work or not.
____• Grapple Voltage: allows Samus to expend her energy to electrocute her enemies. Conversely, she can drain energy from her opponents.
• Energy Tank: think of it as a portable expansion to Samus’s energy shielding. This increases her shield’s energy by 100 points. But, spouting off numbers means nothing here unless I can make a comparison, so here it goes: if Master Chief dies from one point-blank explosion from a missile, and Samus takes roughly 40-50 damage from a missile. This means (by those numbers) that Chief would have less than 40-50 energy. Lets pin his energy at, say, 39-49. Okay, so Samus’s energy (typically) maxes out at 2099. So, lets do some math. 2099/39 and 2099/49 = 42.84 - 53.82 times the maximum damage potential that Chief can take (I know I flipped the numbers, but that is only to have them increasing; otherwise, you might have been confused, eh? Wait, you don’t know what I’m talking about? ˜_˜ Nevermind..).
But wait! There’s more! Samus’s armor gives her (typically) 75% resistance to damage! So we then multiply those numbers by 4/3 (the 1/x of .75 which means we are really adding both numbers by 75% to get the new value) giving us: 57.12 - 71.76 times the damage potential that Master Chief can take. That may not seem like a lot, but that means that Master Chief is going to have to do a lot of damage to harm her with her having some 5712% more durability than him.
• Gravity Booster: This item gives Samus even more mobility in the water (in MP2, she didn’t get a gravity suit, so think of this as a derivative).
• High Jump/High Jump boots: doubles Samus’s already high jumping ability. Yes, this actually is a very good thing.
• Screw Attack: this is another überweapon that can’t be overlooked. It really is one of the reasons she can immediately win the fight. The screw attack destroys most enemies in a single hit. In Super Metroid, she didn’t even take damage from anything in that form, and only few very powerful attacks could break her out of it. Her body rotates extremely quickly whist becoming shielded by a mixture of plasma and electrical energy, obliterating everything in her path. Probably even the Chief.
• Space Jump: This allows Samus to fly through the air indefinitely by spinning rapidly. This also defends her durability as she is able to spin at such speeds that she flies through the air and yet remains unfazed. Metroid Prime had the upgrade reduced to a double jump, however.
• Speed Booster: this allows Samus to achieve Mach 1 speed (John Calvin again corrects me, using the term supersonic speed according to the Zero Mission instruction manual. This means Mach 1 and above. “Hypersonic” speed are mach 5 and up, so it is perfectly feasible to see mach 4 as an acceptable number. However, mach 1 is already overkill for Master Chief, so I will leave it at the lowest accepted minimum). While she is at this speed, she is invincible to all but the most solid of walls. She can also instantly go to a stop without feeling any negative deceleration effects. She can also crouch while running to stop and store a ‘charge’ from this mode. When she jumps in this mode, she ’shinesparks’; that is, flies through the air at mach speeds, charging though whatever she may come upon. In Super Metroid, she took damage from Shinesparking, as she went even faster than in speed booster mode, but this weakness was removed in other games where the speed booster made an appearance, leading one to believe that upgrades may interface with different suits in a completely different way, or that the upgrades themselves may have been at a later time.
• Visor: this is the part of Samus’s suit that displays the HUD, and it also provides various features, such as the ability to lock on to various creatures and stay locked on. She can also lock on to a creature and dash to the side very quickly using the back-mounted rockets. This would make her far more maneuverable than the chief, I would say.

Having covered most (I dare not say all, I know I’ve missed some) of the items, I think it a fair bit to say that Samus does indeed have more abilities than Master Chief. So, from here, I will attempt to dissect some key areas and determine a winner: Weaponry, Strength, Speed, and Durability (WSSD, or Walter Sullivan Steals Dudes if you want a bad tribute to Silent Hill).

1. So, for the weaponry section, I’ll give it to Samus for the sheer fact that she never runs out of ammo, she has a wider array of weapons than Master Chief, and her weapons appear to be more destructive than the weapons that Master Chief carries. It also appears that the ability to carry 255 missiles and can rapid fire them trumps anything that chief has anyway. Before I start however, I might want to list the debate rules I go by when I try to determine a winner. I’m not forcing anyone to follow these rules, but I am showing you them so that you can get an idea of where my argument comes from: “Guidelines for Objective and Open-Minded Debate (G.O.O.D.)” All of these rules are subject to being stated null or void by the thread creator, and ONLY by the thread creator, at the beginning of the thread. Neutrality Assume that the battleground is neutral, with physics allowing the use of any character’s abilities, but eliminating any skill or item that requires a specific area, opponent, or time, or type of fight to be activated or used. Assume damage will be a constant. Between different health value systems, treat damage as a relative value. This does not negate established immunities, barriers, or shielding against attack types. Items Assume that the character is equipped with the best of his or her equipment. In the case of inventory items in RPG style, it is up to the thread creator to choose what they are given, or if they are given anything. Assume that there are no items or power-ups laying around the battlefield for either character to pick up or use, unless there are items or power-ups for BOTH characters to use. Sources The original, canonical source will have precedence over any secondary or non-canon sources in the case of discrepancies. If there is a novel based on a game, and the novel’s version of the hero conflicts with the version seen in the game, the game holds precedence. You must state what source you are using for your evidence. Should no evidence exist to either prove or disprove an argument, logic and neutral physics and reasoning will be used. Assistance Assume that the only characters in the battle are the ones stated by the topic creator, and that any assistance to a character from outside sources will immediately result in a forfeit. This includes, but is not limited to, party members and summons, as well as abilities that require the help of a party member or other character to use. The Start of the Fight Assume that each character is starting with full health. Any energy bars which recharge automatically will also be full. Any energy bars which start off empty in the game and must be charged through either combat or an item will start off empty. Assume that neither character has previous knowledge of their opponent’s skills or abilities, but do start off with knowledge that their opponent exists and that they must fight, regardless of situation or personality. Assume that a character’s skill is at a level they should be at, based off of existing evidence, and that an outside “player” is not a factor. For the sake of the topic, these are real people, not played characters. The End of the Fight The fight is won when a character has killed their opponent, removed their opponent from battle, or incapacitated the opponent to the degree that they cannot continue fighting. Resurrection is not an option. When a character has died, they have lost, whether they can be resurrected or not. If a character retreats from battle, either to another area or another time period, they forfeit the battle. In order to avoid time paradoxes, a character is never allowed to travel back in time to kill their opponent when they were a child, because if they did that, the opponent would never have existed, thus negating the need to go back in time, so the character would never have done it, which would mean the opponent was not killed so the battle is happening anyways.

2. For the strength section, even though Samus is augmented to be very strong, I will give it to Cheif. I will, however, point out that such an attribute is useless. Why? Lets think about this logically: are you going to grapple someone in a gunfight? No, it is rather pointless to do so, especially if point-blank blows from hugs statues made of stone (probably equaling several tons anyway) don’t seem to do that much damage. Another reason this is useless is because Samus is far more agile than Master Chief, making most of his attacks useless anyway. So, even though Chief is stronger, it really is a moot point because you aren’t going to grapple in a gunfight.

3. Speed. Samus can run at mach1. Chief cannot. Simple as that. To those of you who say that Chief can react faster than Samus, I’ll say this: she remains comfortably cognizant at mach speed. This means that she reacts faster than than your silly ’shoot her in the head instantly’ tactic. Also, while I’m on that subject, I might bring up that your whole ‘aim-dead’ argument is silly too because the bullet needs to travel through the air. So, its more like ‘aim-pull trigger-travel through air” than that. Seriously, if he could aim and they die, then he would have to have a gun that fires bullets capable of superluminous speeds. Durability is a hotly debated issue, but I don’t think it really matters who survived what, considering that they don’t have an atmosphere to fall through. It might also be mentioned that those where ‘lucky’, as fans are so fond of saying. However, there will be no deus ex machina in this match, so chances of getting ‘lucky’ shots are reduced to none.

4. Also considering my previous durability arguments, I’m not sure Master Chief is durable enough to win this fight. I call durability in favor of Samus.

So, in conclusion (and not summarization, that would defeat the purpose of this post. I wanna see your eyeballs sweat when you read this!) I don’t think there is much Master Chief can do to Samus, while conversely there is much Samus can do to Master Chief to do him in, and I’m sure you’ll see it my way too if you read this entire post, but I doubt many of you will. Some people don’t like to face the truth, I’m afraid.

mostly I have to agree, but there some points that dosn´t fit in your quite theoretical... presentation.
Have you ever thought about why they haven´t used the speed booster nor the space jump in prime like in the 2d games?
You need a much to large area to get to the speed of m4 and even if you have this much space, samus can only run in one direction.
The space jump like it was in prime3 could be a solution but to hit MC with this speed is obviously impossible.
The next point I´m not sure about, due to my 10th grade physiks knowledge ^^:
Wouldn´t a ballistic bullet do more damage to a shield disigned for none ballistic´s?
I would refer to starwars where you can´t shoot trough shields but walk.
And in the past samus had taken more damage from direct hits (ridley grapping her, eg.) than from beams and similar.
To be fair, Samus´ missiles would do more damage too.
...
...
even though Samus isn´t as strong as you described, I would say she would win in an all out battle.
But when trying to play trough some scenarios I think Samus lack the killing intent and she would be to naiv and vulnerable against MC´s taktiks.
I wish Metroid other M gives us enough material to end this fight properly.

Master cheif may have tons of wepons and vehicles, but he can only carry two guns at a time, also he can't drive in a CONTROL ROOM

lol, samus wouldnt stand a chance against the master chief, even before he got his suit they could move faster then anyone can see, even highspeed camera's couldnt keep up with them, then they got the suits which made them EVEN FASTER. superman couldnt catch him! samus isnt as strong as him either, dont forget the spartans bones are stronger then titanium armor! they can see in the dark, trained since the ages of 5 for years to combat pirates, they are able to defeat thousands of aliens with just one! they can use any weapon they find and there ai can adapt to it as well. samus wouldnt have a chance in hell..

Master Chief would win Because of the Tactics, Samus works puzzles to avoid the Enemies And Master Chief Heads in and Kills Everything.
He also Blew up Three Rings and Obliterated a Covenant Armada, Slew Thousands of Flood and Sentinels, Only to Fall 100,000 Thousand Feet and get up Brush himself off and Kill Thousands more Aliens and such. Enough Said

To the man who posted the wall of text, I did read the whole thing, and i do have to say, it did bring up samus in my mind, but your explanation was a little, byast. while describing chief, you used words like, only, maybe, unflexible, and CAN'T. while describing samus however you said things like, very, powerful, and mostly, CAN. I know you think samus wins, and I have to say, it would be a VERY close match, but I would like to ask a few thing, having only read about samus and metroid and stuff, not playing, I've seen a few gameplay videos, samus wasn't running through lava all the time, she wasn't flying the whole time, she didn't melt through all the enemies, and she certainly wasn't running at mach 1. now, I ask you, why?
now for more questions, if samus can dodge the rockets, jump 100 feet in the air and bench over 7000 pounds, and again, RUN AT MACH ONE, how do her metroid enemies stand a chance either? they certainly weren't doing all those things...
now on to chief, and starting with the atmospheric fall, it was an accident that it happened, but his suit went into lockdown cuz he told it to, not an accident. in your explanation, you did not mention that chief too was augmented immensly, when he was 14, no suit, before his augmentations had fully set in, he managed, to snap the arm and kill the best of the best in the military (ODST) along with knocking out the other, without a scratch on him, at age 20, no suit, the spartans were clocked at 50 kilometers per hour, his nerves/reflexes were augented as well, enough that he could watch things that were falling, and immediatly see them and recognize them, and idetify them and explain them in detail, along with his mind, pretty much making him a super genius, granted, samus maybe a super genius aswell, i'm unsure. when the suit, chief was able to top 100kmp in a sprint at the end of which he deflected a missle, coming from a ship, mind you. And now equipment for chief chief, he is able to pilot any ship or vehicle he comes across, and use any weapon with extreme proficiency.

and now for my opiion on chief, please try to accept the fact that chief is better than you think, chief almost single handedly destroyed 3 rings, the size of planets, created by super advanced beings of the past said to have unimaginable power, he also desroyed the ark, the thing taht was built to build the rings, and all the rings and the ark were covered in the covenant, and advanced alien race with which the unsc is having a war with, the war that chief is doing almost completely by himself. and managed to stall, and then eliminate an interplanetary parasitic race that managed to overtake the covenant aswell.

I've explained now that chif is no average guy in a suit. he is the master chief. samus is not as clear to me, she is powerful but I dont know to what extent, in my eyes, its a draw, do to incamplete knowledge, But Chief is the Wins, he rocks!

thank you for reading my comment, please dont be angry at me for the 'my opinion' section.
