Who Would Win: Solid Snake vs Sam Fisher?

mgs2-solid-snake-chibi-t.jpg

A while ago, we posed a hotly debated question to the community: Who will win in a fight -- Master Chief or Samus Aran? Your response was tremendous and you made your voices heard. In a knock-down, drag-out fight, it was the great censored who finally landed the killing blow, leaving nothing left of censored except pieces of broken armor and blood soaked censored.

Now the time comes for two other champions to battle it out. Never has there been two more evenly matched opponents. Two master spies who've each saved the world four times over. But now when they fight, they fight to save their own lives...

Who will win this battle royale? See for yourself.

******************************************************************************************

Solid Snake makes his way behind a crate near the entrance of the secret base. He settles into a nice cool spot next to a forklift -- a welcomed contrast to the blazing heat of the jungle where he spent the last 8 hours inching his way here. It wasn't easy. He had to sneak past 20 guards, putting to sleep 18 of them, killing only 1 and feeding another to a very happy alligator. The new Metal Gear he heard about must be inside this facility. It's too well guarded not to be. There are 5 more guarding the red door up ahead. And he needs to be in there before time runs out.

Snap! Crackle! 'n Pop! Uggh! Shank!

Solid Snake: Huh? What was that noise?

Otacon: What happened, Snake?

Solid Snake: Don't wet your pants, kid, but I just saw 5 guards get taken out like they were twigs. I'm turning on my OctoCamo. I think we've got a rogue agent in here.

Otacon: Two mice after the same piece of cheese, huh? This is NOT good.

Solid Snake: Yeah, well, the guy's fast. All I saw were flashes of green when he was killing the last guard. Must be from his goggles. Octacon, find out if those are government issue. I want to know who else I'm up against. And if need be, who I need to take out. Snake out.

************************

Sam Fisher: I take the lives of a few to protect the lives of many. I commit acts of war to preserve the greater peace. I take no joy in killing, but make no mistake -- I'll do what needs to be done. Because it's my job. It's my duty. My name is Sam Fisher, and I am... a Splinter Cell.

Colonel Irving Lambert: What was that? Sam, you say something?

Sam Fisher: Uh-no, forget it. Just that.. I could really go for some Rice Crispies right now.

Col. Lambert: What? Focus on the mission, Sam. Breakfast later.

Sam Fisher: Yea, you're right. I-I lost my mind for a second. Tell me about the WMD again.

Col. Lambert: You are to proceed to the Distribution Center and assume control of the terrorist's WMD. It's being moved tonight so you'll have to act fast. Our intel says it is most likely hot. Nuclear active. Bring it back to us, Sam. We're counting on you.

Sam Fisher: Yea, you and the whole free world, Lambert! And me on an empty stomach.

Col. Lambert: Um -- thanks?

Sam Fisher: Save it. I think this dead guy's got a cereal bar. Hey you, dead guy. You speak English? I bet your neck you do.

Guard: Huh? I know some English. Who are you? How did you get here. No dead guy here. You are the dead guy!

Sam Fisher: Lucky you I enjoy a good debate.

Snap! Crackle! 'n Pop!

************************

Solid Snake: This is Snake. Do you read me, Otacon?

Otacon: Loud and clear, Snake. How are you doing?

Solid Snake: I'm in the Parcel Room heading towards the Warehouse. Probably 12 minutes behind our mystery agent. This guy is crazy. He's leaving behind a trail of bodies. And cereal bar wrappers?! I did manage to interrogate a guard. Tricked him with one of my girly mags. September Issue. Good stuff. Says they're transporting the Metal Gear tonight. I gotta get there before our cereal killer does. Snake out.

************************

Sam Fisher is a master spy. It takes him less than 2 hours to infiltrate the Distribution Center, snapping every neck along the way. All that's left is a lone terrorist -- the pilot, in fact, of the Metal Gear.

Sam Fisher: I've killed hundreds of men. I've served my country well. I'm tired. I'm getting too old for this. But my country needs me. That's why I'm here. For the WMD. And you, monkey boy, are in my way!

Guard: Are you going to kill me?

Sam Fisher: Let's play a game...

************************

While Fisher has his fun, Snake is hard at work preparing the charges. It took him a long while to get here. He's used up all his tranquilizers and girly magazines to get this far. But just when the most important part needs to be done, Solid Snake's OctoCamo fizzles out. The batteries has run dry. He materializes into plain view just as he was about to plant the explosives onto the Metal Gear. Right in front of a very angry Sam Fisher. No doubt about it -- he's gonna have to get his hands dirty with this one.

To Be Continued in Part 2

How should this battle play out? You let us know. The life of your favorite hero hangs in the balance. Let your voice be heard!

ill tell you what happens. the two find themselves in a stalemate and end up blowing each other up with a giant bomb. then Kojima pops out of a hole and comes up with some ridiculous explanation for how Snake survives the explosion. so Snake wins... somehow.

Isn't Snake super old now, his genes were programmed not to last as long as everyone else's. So yeah Fisher would probably own him, but if this were MGS1 era then Fisher would be completely destroyed. I mean come on, Solid Snake usually shows up with NOTHING, he's badass enough to procure everything on sight. Fisher has nightvision goggles, knives, and all kind of gadgets and addons for his guns.

Then, batman slowly and quietly drops down (fresh off selling 1 million copies of AA) and completes and inverted takedown on Fisher. Snake, confused, runs over to investigate while batman grapples to the next gargoyle. One batarang later and both Snake and Fisher are out cold. A little explosive gel for the WMD and game over.

3 arguments

Snake would win, in a firefight he has better acurracy considering in all splinter cells game you are overpenalized for moving while you shoot meanwhile since mgs2 there is always a boss fight that requires you to do it.

Snake has more experience in stealth out the window boss fights while sam can only fight from the shadows. Besides he can get tips from the codec like telling him to make jokes which make sam lose his temper and giving him the advantage :P

If they flow into fisticuffs snake would theoretically win as CQC is supposed to be composed of the best of each martial disciplines including Krav Maga, besides cqc includes the use of knife and handgun which outplays sams one or the other style. And as far as i am concerned sam never outfought anyone with krav maga.

In my opinion its really close. both are very similar but have their own styles, Snake has been through more, people with weird abilities taken out mech suits ect, But sam hes a normal guy, taken out god knows how many enemies, but same goes for snake, soooo snake close but snake ftw

RooCH the Decider

 - September 13, 2009 5:34 PM

If this were a stealth fight, Fisher would win it without question. Why? When was the last time Snake HONESTLY used stealth? Standing around a corner, then running out is barely stealth, and invisiblity suits that aren't really invisible? Half the time, Fisher is above you, or right in front of you, and you don't know it. Snake carries 98 weapons and fights every boss out in the open. He is barely stealth.

But if it's a firefight, Fisher is fucked. As mentioned, Snake carries a fucking armoury. Pistols, grenades, Two, count 'em TWO types of rocket launcher. The man is not stoppable with bullets, so Fisher would lose that one.

But a hand to hand fight? That would be interesting. Look at Convictions recent trailer to see the kind of environmental self defence Fisher knows. Every manoeuvre he uses is genuinely applicable self defence. All I've seen from Snake is the three hit combo for basically every game. Plus, Sam fishers knife kills are epic. I'd give hand to hand to Fisher.

So, 2/3 for Fisher, I say he wins.

I vote snake because truthfully the way snake was spotted by Sam Fisher he could not only just do a MGS roll out the way then Octocamo but, he could just turn around and MK.2 Fisher and then blow fishers head off.

omi25p

 - September 13, 2009 6:52 PM

i vote sam, if snake and sam had no equipment on them and had to get into a building unspotted, sam would do it, he hardly ever uses any gagets and in the new game he has hardly any

Sacreo

 - September 13, 2009 7:19 PM

Snake all the way. He may be old, but that suit enhances his strength, so hand-to-hand is an easy win. He's significantly more accurate with a gun, and has experience fighting enemies Sam can't even dream of.

 - September 13, 2009 8:53 PM

SAm Fisher would win if he was not in a firefight have you seen the videos of his new game Conviction the guy is actaully a ninja and Snake isnt really stealthy at all. Yes, Metal Gear started and made the first stealth game but Splinter Cell actually defines what a stealth game should actually be like. So Sam Fisher would win in a steath and close combat fight but gun fight it would be close but Sam would loose

Dan Davis

 - September 13, 2009 9:47 PM

I'd say snake wins. For various reasons:

For one snakes resourcefulness has been proven time and time again. It is his ability to adapt to conditions that makes him great. This ability has helped him defeat people who could hardly be called human. People far more sinister then Sam Fisher...

Fisher simply has a lot of experience fighting lowly guards and the occasional experienced fighter.

What snake lacks in technology he makes up for with his general senses and experience. They are far more in tune then fisher as fisher depends on his technology constantly.

Sam fisher is no doubt a great soldier and a top notch spy. But compared to snake, he is as green as the lights on his night vision goggles.

Snake has fought all his life, since the day of his birth. He knows of nothing else but combat and the ways of a true warrior. He has knowledge of every aspect of warfare and has always willingly put his life on the line without question, or in that case, without anyone asking him of it. Because he doesn't require orders from anybody to know what needs to be done, he just does it.

Countless times, Snake has Gone against the worst off odds with .0000000000001% chance of survival and has come out on top. Bloodied, Bruised, Battered and scared. But never once has he been broken or beaten.

And if it came down to it, Snake would destroy Sam Fisher. The last thing Fisher would see is his ass where his nuts should be.

Snake is a super soldier, so there is no way Fisher can win against Snake. REX and numerous unmanned metal gear can't even take down Solid Snake. Even the Beauty and the Beast corps were no match for him.

anonynous

 - September 13, 2009 10:06 PM

Snake wins. He's defeated so many weird bosses that Sam will seem like a "generic" boss. Not that he'll be easy, not by a long shot, just that he's not as weird as some of the ones Snake has previously defeated. Or, maybe the fact that he's so not weird will win the battle for him. hahha

if that was snake in that situation snake would forget he had a daughter becuase in kojimas world it probabley wasnt his any ways and snake would just go about his mission and save the world again

Wes

 - September 14, 2009 1:54 AM

Ok first of all the person didn't say if it is the young snake, or the old snake. For all we know this could be a scenario where both are at a younger age.... I'd say snake, Sam just isn't use to the paranormal circumstances in which snake was usaully in.

And plus Sam is more of a boyscout in my perspective as to being the ultimate agent trained in possible combat scenario possible.

Dre

 - September 14, 2009 5:04 AM

Snake, he's a supersoldier xD.

And Sam Fisher would start crying when he hears Snake's smooth voice xD

Lithium

 - September 14, 2009 3:41 PM

Snake would win for multiple reasons. Snake has been in combat longer than Sam Fisher, he has more experience and has survived and weathered a hell of a lot more than Sam has.

@Waltrus:

I must ask if it is you who have actually played the MGS games. Because at the end of MGS4:GOTP, it is explained [In the long, drawn out Kojima cutscene fashion) That there were 3 clones of the "Legendary Mercenary" Big Boss, Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, and Solidus. Although Snake actually inhereted the recessive genes of Big Boss, he is the best out of all of them because of his Will, his tenacity, and his experience in all forms of combat on the battlefield, as well as being a master of CQC, a Kojima variant to Mixed Martial Arts, and the ability to use any firearm he finds. Which, he does, since he picks up all his equipment on the field.

Summary: Snake wins. Sam just doesn't cut it.

Right i have played both Splinter Cell with Sam Fisher and Metal Gear Solid with solid snake. So my opinion is not biased.

I will split it in to 3 catogories. Shoot out, stealth out, fight out!

Shoot out:
In terms of accuracy they are both good, and up until mgs4 i would have put my money on Sam Fisher, however with the new behind the camera reticle aim that Snake now possesses, similar to splinter cell, i would say Snake wins that. On top of this Fisher perhaps has 3 guns per mission, Snake has atleast 70 in mgs4, so in terms of running out, i doubt it. Snake takes my vote.
Stealt Out:
I understand Fisher is more better with using shadows to his advantage, but is there always shadows, noooooooo. So technically if it were day time wouldn't he be kinda useless :S. Snake however has stealth camo and octocamo, both work day and night and make him completely invisible. Snakes wins
Fight out:
Now i understand that people know of the Krav Maga that Fisher possesses, and that you all say Snake has a three hit attack, time for you to wake up from mgs1 and play number 4, he has a rally of CQC attacks that mix Judo with MMA and also some karate and believe it or not KRAV MAGA. So technically he has the advantage. Snake wins

Snake 3/3
Fisher 0/3

BTW all this nonsense slowing Snake down cos of his age is rubbish, he still completed a mission Fisher never could. :)

Phil

 - November 9, 2009 1:03 PM

first of all, Fisher wouldn't get that close just to chat, if Fisher gets near someone it is because he is almost delivering a deadly blow. Fisher has all gadgets he needs, with his cameras and googles there is no chance to Snake to get near Fishers... Fisher is a walking trap. I like but Snake, but c'mon, he would win just inside a ring with CQC vs CQC if they had the same age, the old Snake has no chance vs Fisher.

Well, if you're putting it into a firefight then Snake should win. But if you're comparing Stealth, then I'd say Sam wins. He is more skillful in it than Snake. Read the books!

ive owned and played mgs4 and played the demo of conviction its easy to say sam wins cause snake is gotten verry old

Mike (Solid Snakes biggest fan)

 - April 14, 2010 7:17 PM

Ok, now before I go off on a rant lets get this over with first. I LOVE SPLINTER CELL. The first one, Pandora Tomorrow, and Choas Theory (lets forget the other two were made...) were amazingly fun games. And compared to the metal gear solid series the stealth was more realistic. (some thing fake though, like being a shadow 2 inches from a guy and him not seeing you)

BUT I LOVE METAL GEAR SOLID EVEN MORE! The metal gear series is my favorite game series of all Time, MGS1 being my favorite (not that piece of crap Twin Snakes). But yeah.

Honestly, considering what ive just said. Ok, so in MGS snake has godlike aim, in SC, you have to wait for like 3 seconds after pointing at an object for sam to straighten his aim so he will actually hit it. Snake can just turn around and HS anyone. ok, so gun fighting snake wins.

Fist to fist, well if hes fighting MGS1-MGS2 snake, then snake wins, hes just as agile as sam and has CQC. if its MGS4 snake then sam is just triply screwed. Snake has a muscle enhancing sneaking suit. Hes like 3 times stronger then sam with that beast. He will come up grab his hand and twist and turn and rip it right off.
So Snake wins all scenarios.

(Also, the MGS series does have great stealth, if you play the game RIGHT)

Dude Sam fisher is the first splinter cell and splinter cell's are ... well invisible til they break your neck and snakes camo wont work sam has electro-magnetic vision goggles and thermal i dont think snake will see him coming. also if you count the latest splinter cell- conviction, sam can kill enemies within seconds.

Hinote

 - May 19, 2010 6:59 PM

let me put it this way as a fan of both game series.

Solid Snake:
Clone of the infamous Foxhound Leader, and all around professional spy and special ops agent, Big Boss(A.K.A Naked Snake).

like his 'father', he has many a skill in CQC, which is many different Martial Arts put into one Mixed move, which, unlike the game makes it seem, is hard to even learn such things all together.

He starts off everything with just a pistol and a knife, like his father again, or nothing at all, like MGS1 suggests, and procures every weapon on the field of battle, to which he has extensively trained with each and every weapon, learned how to use each weapon, and how to disarm an opponent using said weapon.

In terms of stealth, Snake again has Fisher beat, for Fisher,he needs shadows, Snake, in MGS1 and 2, uses his surrounding, his environment, he adapts to everything, even shadows, if there are any, which for him, there are hardly any, but with MGS4, he has Octocamo which allows him to blend into a wall, or floor, and otherwise, even more effective when not in the light, because he cannot cast a shadow.

Sam Fisher:
Expertly trained Soldier, now here's where everyone doesn't understand Sam's potential, yes he indeed seems less of a spy when compared to Snake, but you give little credit to his knowledge and skill.

Sam went through many of the more trying area's of the US Military, he even served in Iraq, and went against unheard of numbers with a team of 4 men,one of which being his best and long time friend, and partner.

Sam Fisher is a man of great tactical knowledge and skill, his equipment is beautiful, and he knows his weapons like he knows the contours of a woman's body, and, like Snake, has deadly skill and knowledge with each.

Now, to pit the two against each other like this is quite the battle, how Sam is being portrayed in this seems more of a green thumb newbie, and how Snake seems to be portrayed is indeed along the lines of the true Snake, but even Sam Fisher gets serious when it comes to his mission.

But from my own experience and Opinion, the Skill in Weaponry, Fighting, and Stealth has to go to Snake.

Why?
Because although Sam is indeed the fearsome agent of death and stealth, Snake has had much more experience and training, and he knows when Anger isn't needed in times of fighting or thought,he knows how to hone himself to the occasion and setting to be able to take down his enemy, Sam Fisher has been recently portrayed as a more childish and anger prone man(((SPOILER))but any man who has lost his daughter, and found out his best friend is a liar and traitor would be((SPOILER))Snake has had his fair share of mentally trying times, but he has gone man to man and man to machine against Metal Gear Rex, Metal Gear Ray, and many different form's of utterly impossible to kill Psycho-kinetic humanoids and Nuclear-armed Mech's, while Sam Fisher has only had to deal with normal, over-paid, over-priced merc's, terrorists, and world-domination psycho's, how can human beings with loads of money and guns and nuclear arms compare to actually facing the Nuclear weapon on two feet towering around 200 feet above you or so?(sorry if that's a bit exaggerated) I'm sorry, but compared to Solid Snake, Sam Fisher just doesn't make the cut in terms of knowledge, tactical advantage, stealth, skill, and battle experience, Snake is the obvious winner, because with how Sam is acting now, it would be the same as if fighting Meryl(without mind control) in MGS1, Sam is just too green and too emotion prone.
