The Incredible Hulk Review

One of my favorite phrases from a famous super -hero, 'Don't make me hungry...You wouldn't like me when I'm hungry!" Oh wait that's my line. Dr. David Bruce Banner was a victim to a Gamma Radiation experiment that altered his D.N.A. The transformation when he is angered turns him into a green monster of pure strength and unlimited destructive capability. Ladies, Gentlemen, and gamers all a like I present The Incredible Hulk review.

This review will be some what of a spoiler report for those that have not seen the movie yet...oh well. Your basic goal is to try to find a cure so you can live a normal life and never worry about buying new clothes when you "Hulk Out". The military wants to copy your D.N.A for super soldier experiments while the villains just want you dead for ruining their plans. So in easier terms you are a runner and you will keep on running until you can either find a cure or stop yourself in the process. Trust me, Bruce has tried many times but since the Hulk is too stubborn to die, he is basically stuck with him.

Now you don't have to worry too much about me spoiling everything because the game has many twist that doesn't follow fully to the film. Other elements have been added to experience the game differently from the movie by adding supporting characters for example Rick Jones and the super villains U-Foes. You first meet both Rick Jones and the infamous enclave who are a force trying to destroy and take over, until, of course they meet you. Rick aids Bruce/Hulk through out the game to stop the enclave from taking over the City. Since this is an open world game, Sega decided to not just let you run around Manhattan streets but to literally plow right through them with destructive environments.

As I said before everything can be destroyed in the city of New York. Excellent addition of having a Hulk game with sandbox game play is being able to tear down buildings and crush cars through the street. I am honestly surprised that obtained the rights to let us gamers destroy all of New York even the U.N Building. Now there is a reason they did this and it is because it is a Hulk game- No duh, and the fact that it does actually come in handy with the game play. In terms of dealing with enemies you have to destroy the enemies secret base and or take down a building with enemies on of it which saves you a lot of time. You also obtain special icons from special landmark buildings that will unlock achievements. From the Apollo theater to Stark Towers; all have special tokens within them to collect and view the pictures in the special menu. There are consequences with a destruction meter that alerts military officials, now if the meter goes higher the tougher the military will be. Sometimes there will be random alerts of enclave and other enemy forces attack civilians.

Now we will enter the combat setting of the game and I enjoy this the most as the Hulk. if you played "Hulk Ultimate Destruction" on the old Xbox, then you will have no problem here. The X and Y button are your strong and stronger attacks, B button is for grabs and climbing buildings, A is your jump, Sprint RB Button, lock on and shield with left and right trigger. Each of these buttons if held down causes Hulk to do a greater attack or Jump. Also if you experiment a bit you can link buttons to do different melee or strong attacks. There are super-moves that you will unlock through out the game. By hitting one of the directional buttons you can perform a power move for example the Super Clap or Super Heal feature. All these can be upgraded through out the game with task and side missions.

The Unlock ables are very interesting with comic book covers, extra characters to play as and of course movies/concept art. The characters you can unlock are Grey, The Professor, Joe Fixit and of course Abomination, now if you have the Iron Man saved you can play as the Hulk Buster armor which is cool but with no flight, kind of leaves you at awww. The graphics have been upgraded since the last hulk game and even though it is repetitive at times you would not get bored since the destruction is very therapeutic.

Disclaimer: "Even though this game is similar to New York city doesn't mean you should try and mimic the fictional events in the game. IT IS FICTIONAL AND SHOULD NOT BE COPIED! You know who you are out there and I am serious. Keep it in the video game consoles!"

The down side to the game is there are no cameo appearances from other known super heroes. So far I have noticed in other Marvel games they have been lacking in the special guest appearances. You are fighting in Manhattan home of the Fantastic Four, Daredevil and Spider-man just to name a few, yet you don't see none of them only in billboards. Instead they put famous Super hero buildings like Stark Tower or Matt Murdock's law firm. In my opinion would of been a great side boss fight to take on "The Thing" or "Spider-man" to gain them as a friend to help you out through the game; hell put Doc Samson in the game which would make sense too.

We now enter the summary of this Hulk smashing review so bare with me. So far you have an open Manhattan New York area to run around. Endless enemies and destructive environments including turning cars into brass knuckles and lamp poles into bats. Side missions and secrets to discover and a nice supply of replay value to keep your Anger at bay. The only bad part is the fact that missing heroes in a major city, but they do give you a prototype hulk buster you can fight....yea not tasty enough. I will give The Incredible Hulk 4 smashes out of 5
