Resident Evil 6 Preview

Capcom recently unveiled some information about the latest entry in the highly successful survival horror game Resident Evil, and the details they released through a preview trailer has stirred up some excitement.

This game will take place ten years after the Raccoon City outbreak - for those not familiar with Resident Evil's history Raccoon City is the site of the first outbreak and the location of the first Resident Evil game. Having some prior experience with the game's storyline helps in terms of connecting some of the details and seeing characters from previous games but is not necessary if you would like to jump in and pick up Resident Evil 6.

One of the two main characters is Leon Kennedy, a Raccoon City survivor and experienced outbreak killer from several of the previous games. For these reasons Leon has been invited to attend a speech by the President of the United States in which the President will reveal the details of the Raccoon City outbreak and the dangers of bioterrorism. In sticking with what is the bread and butter of Capcom's stories there is a bioterrorist attack leaving the President and others as something other then themselves.

The other of the two main characters is another Resident Evil veteran, Chris Redfield. He is currently a member of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (B.S.A.A.) and has been sent to investigate an attack in China. The simultaneous attacks leave the world in a disarray and while Capcom has not said how the two stories are related, I am hopeful that Leon and Chris will cross paths at some point in the story.

Resident Evil 6 is scheduled for release on November 20, 2012 and Capcom has also confirmed that there will be different pre-order bonuses for those pre-ordering at GameStop, Best Buy, and Amazon.com. Each store will offer an bonus map that will be available in different modes of the game.
