Marvel vs Capcom 2 on XBLA Rumors Supported by Evidence

There have been rumors for a while now about Marvel vs Capcom 2 coming to XBLA. Naysayers point to the fact that Capcom no longer holds the Marvel license. Others remind us that Marvel switched partners and teamed up with EA for the abysmal Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects. But we all know how that team-up turned out. The game was way off the mark and was neither a critical nor commercial success.
So, is there any substance to this rumor? Let's examine the evidence.

Exhibit A -- We stumbled upon a European game site offering up this tantalizing product for pre-order: the Marvel vs Capcom Tournament Edition Arcade Stick for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It's clearly a modified Street Fighter IV TE stick with "Officially Licensed Marvel vs Capcom 2 artwork."
I'm no marketing major but I would think there's little market for a stick commemorating a 9-year old game, unless... there's a game being released to match. The stick will be released in 10/07/2009. This could only mean the game will be out the same month in October.
Exhibit B -- It doesn't get any clearer than this: Actual achievements for the upcoming XBLA release of Marvel vs Capcom 2.

This game has been in demand for the longest time now. Fans have been drooling for it. The original Xbox and PS2 version continues to be in demand and claim top dollar on eBay. The stars may have finally aligned for us to get this highly sought after game, perhaps now in HD. Best sell your sealed copies now before October. Don't say we didn't warn ya.

With tens of thousands of Dreamcast supporters like you guys, I wonder why Sega ever got out of the console biz?
