LEGO Rock Band Announced

The newest series that will get the LEGO makeover will be... **drum roll**... Rock Band. Wow, now that's out of left field.
LEGO Rock Band will be developed by TT Games with help from Harmonix. The game is aimed at a younger audience, somewhere between the teen and tween demographic, and will feature such songs as: Blur's "Song 2", Carl Douglas' "Kung Fu Fighting", Europe's "The Final Countdown", Good Charlotte's "Boys and Girls" and Pink's "So What".
Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, Vice President of the LEGO Group, announced, "We're thrilled to offer another LEGO branded gaming experience that will deliver humorous and social play for families and friends. LEGO Rock Band is built around the same values of imagination and family-friendly creative role play that is present in other LEGO videogames. It will deliver innovative new elements of game play that complement the fun of the Rock Band experience."
There will be new "LEGO-themed rock challenges" that allow players to "destroy a giant robot, summon a storm, and demolish a skyscraper using the power of rock!"
Also making its debut in any LEGO or Rock Band game is the ability for players to customize their "entourage, including roadies, managers and crew," build vehicles, buy furniture, and decorate the walls or the band's hang-out.
Expect this to be a multi-platform release on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS during Holiday 2009. And following the new "We're all friends" attitude, all plastic instruments, even from competing franchises, will be compatible with LEGO Rock Band. Isn't cross company harmony heart-warming?
