Halo 4 originally made its debut at E3 2011 amidst a great deal of hype and curiosity among gamers around the world. Some new information has been released in regards to the blockbuster release, but what have we learned exactly?

Many of the questions surrounding Halo 4 when it was unveiled at E3 2011 surrounded the platform on which the game would be released.

There were many who were under the assumption that Halo 4, with Master Chief and all, would be releasing as a launch game for the Xbox 360 successor, the Xbox 720.

The thought process behind this revolved around the belief that Microsoft wanted to launch their next-gen console with a killer app, and the franchise that helped kick-start the Xbox franchise as we know it today.

What better way to launch a next-gen console than with the latest release of Microsoft's version of Nintendo's Super Mario franchise.

This had yet to be confirmed though, until this week that is.

Frank O'Connor, the series director for Halo from the developer 343 Industries shed some light. 343 Industries, the develop of the upcoming Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition for the Xbox 360, has confirmed that Halo 4 will also hit the Xbox 360 console.

The series director wrote on the gaming forum NeoGAF, writing that "Halo 4 will be on Xbox 360 and use a modified core of the Halo engines. Not really a singular engine since it goes through fairly radical evolutions all the time."

This confirms that Halo 4 will be enjoyed on the Xbox 360, but also leaves open the possibility that it could also still release on the Xbox 360 successor, the Xbox 720.

The belief is that Halo 4 will release on the Xbox 360, and then an improved version will hit the next-gen Microsoft console once it is released.
