Galaga Legions Set to Invade XBLA: Gameplay Video

With all of the great shooters released recently on Xbox Live Arcade, fans of the genre must be in heaven. Last week, one of the classics in the genre got a modern update with 1942: Joint Strike. Just today, we got a sequel to Geometry Wars with Retro Evolved 2. Now, Namco-Bandai have announced that they are bringing an updated version of Galaga to the console in the form of Galaga: Legions.

Legions updates the original classic in almost every way. The premise of the game is that you are no longer a lone starship facing waves of enemies. This time, you have help from legions of friendly fighters that willingly join the ranks behind you to fight for your cause. The game seems to take a design cue from recent hits like Every Extend Extra and Space Invaders Extreme. The action looks frantic, and the potential for combos insanely high. The game will arrive in August, but in the meantime, check out a short gameplay video below:
