Resident Evil 5 Tops Sales Chart in Japan

The votes are in. Gamers prefer getting their dose of zombie mayhem on the PS3. Resident Evil 5 topped Japanese sales charts this week, with the PS3 version killing the competition (it's always the quiet ones). The PS3 version sold 312,000 units. The second place finisher was the DS game, 7th Dragon which charmed only 80,000 buyers. The Xbox 360 version of RE5 took third place, selling 79,000 units.
Effectively, the PS3 version beat the 360 one by 4:1, despite the 360 version mysteriously breaking street date by one day at Bic Camera. Still, the real winners in the Resident Evil franchise were Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. According to Gamasutra, both games sold over 1 million copies during their launch week. Them were better days, buddy.
