Fallout 3 DLC: The Pitt Preview

Hot on the heels of this month's Fallout 3 downloadable content Operation Anchorage comes the next installment from Bethesda software. The upcoming downloadable episode will be called "The Pitt" and it features additional content located in and around the burned out hulk of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Fans were originally expecting this new pack to arrive in February, but the remaining DLC has been moved back by a month, so the Pitt will now arrive in March.

Early screenshots released today look downright amazing. While the original Fallout was mostly painted in washed-out hues of grey and blue, this new content moves the game toward the rusty red side of the color spectrum.

Players will be exploring a semi-abandond tangle of industrial buildings in the steel district, full of narrow traverses over pipes and full of mutant enemies like the Raider pictured below. Future Pittsburgh is a lot like the city of modern day: its citizens are divided into the "haves" and "have nots". The poor half is relegated to living in the dangerous, mutant-infested downtown core, while their rich masters live outside of the city in an enclave called "Haven". We are certain that players will find themselves involved in this simmering class war somehow during the course of the expansion.

Completing this downloadable content will also give players access to some cool new loot, namely the "Auto Axe" melee weapon.
